Microchipping
Microchipping is a quick and simple procedure that helps re-unite you with your dog or cat should they stray from home.
What is Pet Microchipping?
Pet microchipping is a simple, quick, and affordable procedure that provides a permanent form of identification for your pet. A tiny microchip, about the size of a grain of rice, is implanted just under the skin between the shoulder blades using a needle, similar to a vaccination. Each microchip contains a unique identification number that is registered to a national pet database, linking it to your contact details. This ensures that if your pet ever goes missing, they can be easily identified and reunited with you.
What happens if I lose my pet?
Microchipping provides a permanent, tamper-proof way to identify your pet if they ever go missing. Each microchip contains a unique identification number, which can be read using a specialised scanner. This number is linked to your contact details in a secure national pet database. If your lost pet is found and scanned by a vet or rescue centre, they can quickly retrieve your information and reunite you with your pet.
Compulsory pet microchipping
Every dog in Scotland must be microchipped by law. Cat microchipping is highly recommended and we can also microchip rabbits.
