Rouken Glen Veterinary Surgery provides exceptional care for pets and sympathetic support for their owners. We'll guide you through all care options in a calm and flexible manner within a comfortable and caring environment.

Consultations

Consultations at the practice are a minimum of 15 minutes with our Vets. We'll investigate specific symptoms or changes in your pet’s behaviour to reveal any causes for concern.

The surgery has a comfortable waiting area and fully equipped consulting rooms including a Nurse consulting room that is used for their clinics.

Cat Friendly Status

At Rouken Glen Vets we strive to give cats the best possible care. We are currently working towards our Cat Friendly Clinic Award, which focuses on providing the best standard of care and welfare for cats whilst in our practice.

All of our staff are up to date with current feline friendly guidelines/handling, and are continually developing their feline knowledge.

We have made some changes in the practice to include the use of pheromones and higher spaces to place cat baskets, these will ensure cats feel safe during their visit. We also have Feliway sprayed blankets in our cat waiting area, so hopefully we will achieve our award in the near future.

Pet dentistry

Pets need regular dental checks throughout their life, just like their owners.  It is advisable to have your pets’ teeth checked regularly. Delaying a dental procedure will likely cause further discomfort and potentially more complex and expensive procedures.

Our practice has the facilities to perform a range of dental procedures on-site if we discover dental disease during an examination.

Radiography

Digital x-rays can provide an instant diagnosis of internal injuries and problems.

X-rays are very good for looking at bones and joints, the skull and teeth, the chest cavity, abdomen and to spot changes in your pet such as the development of tumours, cysts or stones.

Your pet will need to be sedated or anaesthetised in order for an x-ray to be taken.

In-house blood testing

Our in-house laboratory offers a fast turnaround of blood test results.

Our pets may need a blood test for a number of reasons. They can help investigate and diagnose illness,  confirm a current diagnosis or check that treatment and medication are working. They can also be used to diagnose an infectious disease, organ failure, assess organ function or identify skin allergies.

In-patient care

Our meticulous veterinary nursing team ensure all the pets in our veterinary wards receive a high standard of care. We understand that having your pet hospitalised can be stressful and encourage owners to visit their pets.

The team manages separate dog and cat wards, ensuring that your pets remain calm and stress free. Padded bedding is provided and noise is kept to a minimum to help promote a calming environment.

Isolation unit

In the event of your pet suffering from a contagious disease, we provide a dedicated team to prevent cross infection and further reduce the risk to other pets.

Set away from our other patient wards, pets in our isolation unit is overseen by a smaller team of staff wearing full Personal Protection Equipment.

Our isolation unit provides comfortable bedding and are a quiet place to recover and has been designed to keep infectious animals apart from the general pet population

Extra cleaning protocols are in place to ensure optimum safety without compromising veterinary care.

On site operating theatre

Our on site operating theatre means most procedures can be carried out by our own skilled Vets.

Surgery is performed under short acting general anaesthetics. The combination of drugs is tailored to each individual pet and state of the art monitoring machines ensure your pet is as comfortable as they can be.

Our practice offers a range of commonly performed surgeries such as neutering of dogs, cats and rabbits, lump removal and biopsy, dentistry and abdominal emergencies.

We will usually need to see your pet for a pre-surgical check, se we can ensure they are fit and well prior to surgery and to answer any questions you may have about the procedure.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is an excellent tool that that enables us to evaluate your pet's organs. It creates real-time images of organs, tissues, and blood flow, which helps us diagnose a wide range of medical conditions. quickly and painlessly.

Ultrasound scans can be performed on conscious animals but we occasionally advise the use of light sedation if appropriate.

Rouken Glen Veterinary Practice understand that your pet is a loved member of your family and we treat them with the same care and compassion as if they were our own, supporting your pet’s long-term wellbeing.

We advise, diagnose and care for all pets at our modern, friendly practice.
